Falconets crash out of U20 Women’s World Cup

Nigeria U20 Women lost 2-1 to Spain to crash out of the 2018 Fifa U20 Women’s World Cup.

First half goals from Aitana Bonmati and Patri Guijarro sent the Falconets crashing despite Peace Efih’s effort.

Bonmati opened the scoring at the Stade Guy-Piriou after 13 minutes as her left-footed shot from the edge of the box getting past impressive Chiamaka Nnadozie.

The Spaniards could have doubled the lead but Bonmati’s well-taken free-kick was cleared away to safety.

However, Los Rojita continued to dominate and were rewarded with their second goal that came in the closing seconds of the encounter.

Christopher Danjuma’s ladies responded with a goal in the 57th minute after an unmarked Efih slotted past into an empty net as Catalina Coll directed Rasheedat Ajibade’s initial effort into her path.

Spain cruised into their first semi-final in the competition history as they saw out the contest against the Nigerians who were wasteful in front of goal.
