Katsina United's Eleje blames loss of concentration for MFM defeat

Katsina United midfielder, Obinna Eleje expresses frustration at their inability to concentrate in crucial moments of their loss to  MFM .

The match rescheduled for Monday morning due to heavy downpour saw the Olukoya Boys start on the front foot with two first half goals by Stephen Odey and Sikiru Olatunbosu.

The Chanji Boys evened scores in the second half from dead ball situations converted by Destiny Ashadi and Obinna Eleje in the 69th and 78th minutes.

But Chukwuka Onuwa's tap from a Stanley Okorom pass saw Fidelis Ilechukwu's side claim all three points.

“This was a game we had the opportunity to walk away with at least a point with the remarkable way we came back,” Eleje told Goal . 

"We did everything possible to comeback after the good pep talk from our coaches during the break on the need for us to forget about the scoreline and concentrate on getting our own goals. We scored two good goals but we were still celebrating the equaliser when they pounced again and we have been left with no point for our valiant effort.

“It will take us some time to recover from this loss because we gave everything for us to get a point but I am sure we are going to bounce back with a bang when we face ABS this weekend.

"We are happy to score two goals on the road and we will try to surpass that when we had in Lagos. We were caught ball watching and had to pay for it. The three goals were due to our fault.”

Katsina United are 12th in the league table with 41 points from 31 matches.
