Brazil set to name squad for USA and El Salvador tests

Next week Brazil coach Tite will announce the first squad of a new cycle for the five-time world champions.

The Selecao return to Brasil Global Tour action in September with tests against USA in New Jersey and El Salvador in Washington, in what will be their first matches since World Cup 2018.

Tite will name his 23-man squad at CBF headquarters in Rio de Janeiro on Friday, August 17, with Technical Coordinator Edu Gaspar set to join him to field questions from the press.

A number of new faces are expected in a group that went largely unchanged for much of the coach’s two-year spell in the role.

Last month Tite penned a new deal that will keep him in the job through World Cup 2022 but first has his sights set on next year’s Copa America, which Brazil will host.

Brazil will meet USA at MetLife Stadium on September 7 before hosting El Salvador at FedExField on September 11.

There will then be six more Brasil Global Tour fixtures prior to Copa America 2019, which kicks off in June.
