Bayern Munich v Real Madrid Betting: Classic on the cards at Allianz Arena

Bayern Munich vs Arsenal
With the statistics pointing to a high-scoring game, we have picked a 19/5 shot which looks like having a great chance of paying out in Bavaria

Real Madrid head to Bavaria to revisit the scene of arguably their greatest away win in the Champions League in recent memory.

Los Blancos' 4-0 demolition of Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on their way to winning the title in 2014 remains the Germans' biggest ever home defeat in the tournament and Bayern will be hoping for revenge.

The man who masterminded that victory now sits on the Bayern bench and Carlo Ancelotti will face Zinedine Zidane - the man who was his assistant in 2014 - in what is a fascinating subplot to this blockbuster tie.

Bayern come into the game in imperious home form with their weekend 4-1 win over Borussia Dortmund making it seven straight home wins for the Bavarians with 30 goals scored in the process.

Ancelotti's men are unbeaten at the Allianz Arena in all competitions since March last year with Madrid the last side to win a European game there three years ago. Indeed since that dark night for Bayern, they have won 16 consecutive home games in the Champions League and Betfair make them firm favorites at 5/6 (1.83) for Wednesday's clash.

Madrid meanwhile conceded late on against cross-city rivals Atletico on Saturday in La Liga to draw 1-1, although they remain top of the table and in a strong position to win their first league title in five years.

Zidane's men are unbeaten in the Champions League this season and their domestic result at the weekend means Madrid have now scored in 52 consecutive matches in all competitions, with their last blank coming in the semi finals of last season's tournament at Manchester City.

Getting an away goal could be crucial for defending champions' hopes of progression and they are offered at 2/5 (1.40) to find the back of the net and at 10/3 (4.33) to record a win.

Indeed, Madrid will fancy their chances of scoring with Bayern keeping just two clean sheets in their last 11 games in the Champions League, although Los Blancos themselves are yet to keep a shut-out in this edition of the tournament meaning both teams to score looks a nailed on selection at 13/20 (1.65)

If the statistics point to a high-scoring game, then there should be plenty of interest in the price of 81/50 (2.62) for over 3.5 goals, while both teams to score in the first half at 29/10 (3.90) could also be an intelligent way of getting some value.

Also worthy of consideration at a hugely tempting price is backing both teams to score at least twice at 19/5 (4.80). Real Madrid have scored over 1.5 goals in all eight of their matches in the tournament so far, while Bayern have done so in six of their eight European games this term.
