Betting: Liverpool pull off stunning 50/1 Champions League comeback against Barcelona

Liverpool have blasted past Barcelona and into pole position in the Champions League winner market.

bet365 made the Reds huge underdogs ahead of their second leg meeting with the Spanish champions. Trailing 3-0 from the initial meeting at the Camp Nou, 18/1 (19.0) was available on Jurgen Klopp's men qualifying at Anfield.

Not only were the English side facing a huge scoreboard deficit but the absence of Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino - two pivotal members of their attacking trident - made the task even tougher.

What followed was a miraculous performance that will live long in the history of European football. Two goals apiece from Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum, coupled with a superb rearguard action to keep the visitors at bay, was enough for Liverpool to qualify for the showpiece finale.

The 4-0 correct score was available at 50/1 (51.0) with bet365 prior to kick-off and the defeat was Barcelona's heaviest against an English side in any European competition.

Liverpool's comeback was one of only four instances where a lead of at least three goals has been overturned in a Champions League knockout tie. Barca were involved in the previous one too when Roma qualified for last season's semi-finals despite trailing 4-1 from their first meeting with the Catalan giants.

bet365 cut Liverpool from 22/1 (23.0) in their Champions League winner market to just 4/9 (1.44). While the identity of their opponents is yet to be decided, Klopp's side will be favourites to get the better of either Tottenham or Ajax in Madrid on June 1.

Liverpool have now reached their ninth European Cup or Champions League final and became the first English side to appear in back-to-back finales since Manchester United in 2008 and 2009.

Spurs are 9/4 (3.25) to overturn their 1-0 first leg defeat when they visit Ajax in the second semi-final. The Dutch side can be backed at 1/3 (1.33) to qualify and 13/10 (2.30) to do so by winning the game in normal time.

Erik ten Hag's men are 3/1 (4.0) to be crowned European champions for the first time since 1995 with Tottenham available at 8/1 (9.0) to lift the trophy.
