AFC U16 Championship Qualifiers: India begin with a convincing win over Palestine

India's U16 team defeated their Palestine counterparts 3-0 on Wednesday in the opening Group D game of the 2018 AFC U16 Championship qualifiers at the Halchowk Stadium in Kathmandu. 

India's campaign to qualify for the 2018 AFC U16 Championship got off to the best possible start, thanks to second-half goals from Givson Singh (51'), Bekey Oram (72') and Vikram Prathap (79'). 

The Blue Colts had some early chances in the first half, which was rain hit, but Bekey Oram and RIcky were guilty of missing some good chances. The half ended in a stalemate but the Indian team kicked on after the break.

The opening goal came in the 51st minute through Givson Singh's brilliant left-footed freekick. The goal breathed confidence into the Indian team who were creating chances galore and deservedly, doubled their lead in the 72nd minute. 

Bekey oram rose highest in the area to head home a cross from right wing. Seven minutes later, Vikram Prathap made it 3-0 to seal the result for India. 

India will next play Nepal on September 22nd before taking on Iraq two days later. The group winners qualify for the 2018 tournament automatically while the runners-up may qualify as one of five best second-placed teams.
