Abdulrahman Taiwo inspires Nitra comeback win in Slovak Cup

Abdulrahman Taiwo scored a goal as Nitra came from behind to defeat Liptovsky Mikulas 3-1 via penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw at the end of regular time.

The 20-year-old inspired Ivan Galad's men to avoid a humiliating defeat against the second-tier club after conceding two goals in the first 27 minutes of Tuesday's Cup encounter.

Taiwo halved his team's deficit in the 28th minute before Tomas Kona's 68th-minute equaliser put the game into extra time.

The Stadion pod Zoborom outfit took advantage of the shoot-out as they advanced to the the quarterfinal stage.

Taiwo has scored three goals in as many games this season for Nitra who are placed eighth in the Slovak top-flight standings. 

They host Zilina in Saturday's league outing.
