Yann Sommer's long-term replacement? Inter rival Man Utd and open talks to sign young Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammen in €20m deal

Inter have reportedly opened talks with Royal Antwerp's young goalkeeper Lammens, according to a report from Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws via FCInterNews. The Nerazzurri are looking to secure a long-term replacement for current first-choice goalkeeper Sommer. Antwerp are seeking a transfer fee of around €20 million for the 23-year-old Belgian international.

Inter's move for Lammens places them in competition with Manchester United, who had also been monitoring the player this summer. Lammens, who joined Royal Antwerp in 2023, is seen as a serious target for Inter as they plan for the eventual departure of veteran goalkeeper Sommer. While Sommer remains the number one choice, second-choice keeper Josep Martinez started several matches in Serie A and the Coppa Italia last season, indicating Inter's desire to build a strong future in the goalkeeper position.

Lammens has established himself as Antwerp’s first-choice goalkeeper in the 2024-25 season, earning fan-voted Player of the Month awards and a call-up to the senior Belgium squad for the UEFA Nations League play-off matches in March 2025.

Inter will continue discussions with Antwerp to negotiate a transfer fee for Lammens, who is under contract until June 2029. The club, who will start their Serie A campaign against Torino, will be keen to reach an agreement before the summer transfer window closes. Should the deal go through, Lammens will compete with Sommer and Martinez for a spot in the squad, potentially serving as an understudy before taking over the starting role.
