Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo reveals Arsenal 'keeping tabs on him' as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's No.1 opens up on jaw injury struggles

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Okonkwo has impressed at the SToK Racecourse this season since joining Wrexham on loan from Arsenal. However, the 22-year-old goalkeeper missed four matches earlier in December after he broke his jaw. He returned to Arsenal for minor surgery, and returned to action last weekend.

  • WHAT OKONKWO SAID

    The promising youngster admitted that his parent club are keeping an eye on how he progresses at Wrexham. He said: "Arsenal always keep tabs, they always ask how I am doing. It is always good to go back and see the players and see the staff so it was a good few days there."

  • WHAT OKONKWO SAID ABOUT HIS INJURY

    Okonkwo also opened up about his injury. He said: "When you are injured and sometimes you come back rusty, you are not sure whether it is the right time but my jaw is good. Unfortunately I broke it and it was a difficult process for me during that time. It was really annoying to get the injury but I just tried my best to get back as soon as possible. I followed a process they had here for me at Wrexham and Arsenal."

    Okonkwo has kept seven clean sheets in 13 League Two outings for Wrexham as Phil Parkinson's side fight for promotion to the third tier. He was brought in on transfer deadline day after veteran goalkeeper Ben Foster retired for the second time in the space of a year.
