    Vinicius storms down the tunnel

Vinicius Junior started Real Madrid's welcome of Barcelona on the left flank but was unable to get among the goals in El Clasico. It wasn't for want of trying as the Brazilian managed three shots and created one goalscoring chance during his time on the Bernabeu pitch.

However, Vinicius erupted in the 72nd minute as the 25-year-old's number was shown for a second half substitution. The Brazil international was replaced by compatriot Rodrygo as Los Blancos chased a third to wrap up a result against rivals Barcelona.

Rather than take a place on the bench, though, Vinicius elected to storm down the Bernabeu tunnel following his withdrawal. While the forward eventually returned to take his place in the dugout, the decision won't have sat well with head coach Xabi Alonso, with the Real Madrid boss blanked by Vinicius as he trudged off.

    Tempers flare at full-time

Real Madrid held out to secure all the spoils with a 2-1 victory in El Clasico to open up a five-point lead at the top of the Liga table. However, the game didn't end without incident as Pedri saw red deep into second-half injury time for a foul on Aurelien Tchouameni.

Pedri was initially booked shortly before half-time for bringing down Vinicius Junior. And despite watching the final knockings of the welcome of Barcelona from the bench, the Brazilian was involved as tempers flared at full-time on the touchline.

There was tension between Vinicius and Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde after the game ended, as Alonso and members of the Real Madrid backroom staff had to hold the forward back.

  • Real Madrid stars carded

Not only was Pedri dismissed late on, Real Madrid defender Eder Militao and backup goalkeeper Andrii Lunin also received yellow cards as El Clasico descended into chaos. As the home support celebrated wildly, both squads were involved in post-match squabbles.

Federico Valverde and Dean Huijsen were also carded during El Clasico, while Fermin Lopez was booked shortly before Pedri's second yellow.

  • What next for Real Madrid & Barcelona?

Victory over Barcelona means Real Madrid have now won five on the spin as they look to wrestle back the La Liga title from their arch rivals. Los Blancos welcome Valencia to the Bernabeu to kick off November before they take on Liverpool and Rayo Vallecano before the international break.

Barcelona, meanwhile, will look to bounce back from the loss to Real Madrid when they welcome Elche next weekend. The Blaugrana are then also in Champions League action next month as they take on Belgian side Club Brugge before a domestic trip to Celta Vigo.
