The former England international has rediscovered his spark in Asia after making a slow start to a spell well outside of his comfort zone. Lingard headed to South Korea in February after spending several months as a free agent.

Lingard stood up a Gwangju defender, sent them the wrong way with a clever step over and curled the ball into the top corner. Unfortunately for the 31-year-old playmaker, his impressive strike came in a losing cause – as Seoul suffered a 3-1 defeat.

Despite seeing more important points dropped late in the K League season, Lingard has sounded another “5 big games left to achieve our goals” message to fans as FC Seoul seek to finish with a flourish and secure the loftiest position available to them.
