Birmingham City’s triumphant return to the Championship after just one season in League One has not only rekindled dreams of top-flight football but also infused a wave of excitement among fans. With significant investment made in the 2024 campaign, including a record-breaking £15 million ($20 million) signing of striker Jay Stansfield, Birmingham assembled a squad that not only clinched a spot in the Championship for next term but also positioned themselves as serious contenders for back-to-back promotions. The momentum building at St Andrew’s is indeed palpable, with NFL legend Brady now on board as a minority investor.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The arrival of Brady as part of the club’s ownership group has undoubtedly contributed to the renewed sense of optimism surrounding Birmingham. Though better known for his exploits on the American football field, his involvement has injected a level of star power and professionalism, as the Blues keep dreaming of a Premier League return in the near future.

  • WHAT TORE ANDRE FLO SAID

Former Chelsea and Rangers forward Tore Andre Flo has revealed his long-standing emotional connection to Birmingham City. In an interview withgoldenpanda.com, Flo said: “Yes, it is true. It's a team that I've been following since I was eight years old. I do have a look at them all the time to see how they're doing. I was absolutely delighted to see them get promoted to the Championship."

Flo believes the club has everything in place to make another leap forward and anticipates that a return to the Premier League is within reach.

"Hopefully, they can get back into the Premier League within the next few years - everyone would love to see them and Aston Villa renew hostilities," he said. "Now that they’ve gone up, I feel that there's a lot of exciting things on the horizon, at the club. People around the club seem to be positive and looking at the future in a way that excites everyone. It’s a great time to be a Birmingham City fan."

    WHAT NEXT FOR BIRMINGHAM?

With the League One title already secured, Birmingham City are not resting on their laurels. Their current form suggests they may yet break new ground before the season draws to a close. The Blues have two matches remaining and are within touching distance of surpassing the all-time points record for a professional league campaign in England.

That prestigious record -106 points - was set by Reading during the 2005-06 Championship season under Steve Coppell. A victory against Blackpool on Wednesday would help Birmingham break that long-standing benchmark.
