Simone Inzaghi to Man Utd? Red Devils' approach 'rejected' as Inter boss gives offer of replacing Erik ten Hag short shrift

Ten Hag has had another poor start to a Premier League campaign and, despite being handed a new contract in the summer, may be running out of time to save his job. According to SportItalia, the United hierarchy approached the Inter boss about taking the helm but had their efforts knocked back. After the summer’s public search for a new manager before the FA Cup final fell flat, United will want to avoid any further uncertainty.

Inzaghi has impressed in his time in management and has clearly caught the eye of United. The Italian led Lazio back to the Champions League before being hired by Inter. Inzaghi has led them to the Serie A title, two Coppa Italias and the final of the Champions League and does not appear ready to move on from the Nerazzurri just yet.

Simone is the brother of former Italy striker and current manager of Pisa, Filippo. While Filippo had the more successful playing career, winning two Champions League titles and a World Cup, Simone is leading the way as a coach.

After Harry Maguire offered ten Hag a small lifeline against Porto, the United boss knows he needs a positive result against Aston Villa to ensure he keeps his job. If United do decide to sack the Dutchman, they will have to look elsewhere with Inzaghi intent on staying in Milan.
