Josef Martínez found the back of the net three times as the San Jose Earthquakes demolished D.C. United 6-1 at PayPal Park over the weekend. The Venezuelan striker opened his account in the 16th minute, added a second in the 81st, and completed his hat-trick in second-half stoppage time.
Martínez's hat-trick performance not only secured a crucial win for San Jose but also propelled him into sixth place on the MLS all-time scoring list with 118 goals. That puts him past Bradley Wright-Philips (117) and Ante Razov (114).
