  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Ratcliffe's reasoning was that, at one of his other companies, email traffic dropped by 20 per cent when they experimented with work-from-home Fridays, according to The Guardian. However, staff have ridiculed the decision as they see it as short-sighted and have said there is not enough room to accommodate all employees in the Manchester and London offices.

  • WHAT RATCLIFFE SAID

The new United part-owner is said to have warned staff that they should look for a new job if they have a problem with the decision. He reportedly said at the meeting: "If you don’t like it, please seek alternative employment."

    WHAT NEXT FOR UNITED?

Ratcliffe will have to turn his attention back to solving United's on-field problems as the season nears its end. INEOS are said to be set to sack coach Erik ten Hag at the end of the campaign, with Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel and England boss Gareth Southgate among the options to replace him.
