Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe criticised for having ‘no private life’ - with World Cup winner urged accept the ‘price of fame’

Mbappe has become something of a reluctant celebrity, with natural talent ensuring that he has become a global phenomenon. The 26-year-old forward, who burst onto the scene as a teenager, can find the trappings of fame difficult to contend with.

His private life, which includes rumoured romances, has become shielded from the public eye. He is rarely seen out and about, with fans that idolise him being denied opportunities to mingle with a sporting icon.

Mbappe relies on others when it comes to the smooth running of everyday life, but Samir Nasri says that has led to former Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain star lacking maturity and a sense of what the real world is all about.

Ex-France international Nasri told Mundo Deportivo after learning that Mbappe cannot drive: “A license is a form of independence, being able to do what you want when you want, to go out without having to be accountable. That means he has no private life, not even with his family. When he has to do something, he has to hire a driver. There are bigger stars than him who have emerged, who have driven and gone around the ring road!

“He can go out on the street, he’s not going to cause a fuss! There are people who will stop him and take pictures with him. But that’s the price of fame. When I was 18, I went to buy bread. My father would drive, I would get out of the car, go into the bakery and buy bread in Marseille, a city that lives off football. You have to do that, to be connected to real life.”

Mbappe would appear to be too set in his ways to change any time soon. He is focused on trophy-chasing at Real Madrid, with four efforts being added to an impressive goal tally this season that delivered 44 through all competitions in his debut campaign as a ‘Galactico’.
