'I love you!' - Rasmus Hojlund says he's the 'happiest man alive' after ending Man Utd goal drought by netting Aston Villa winner as Alejandro Garnacho slams 'people who talk' about Red Devils' misfiring strikers

After going down by two goals in the first half, United made an incredible comeback as they rode on Alejandro Garnacho's brace and Rasmus Hojlund's maiden Premier League goals to beat Aston Villa 3-2 at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Hojlund was on top of the world after finally ending his goal drought as he stated that he was extremely happy to have contributed to the team's win. He also received support from his colleague Garnacho who expressed his love for the Danish while defending him against critics.

Speaking to Amazon Prime at the end of the game, Hojlund said, "It’s been a while but I'm happy. I'm the happiest man alive right you can see from the celebrations. We believed until the end - we showed a lot of character today. I've scored a couple in the Champions League but it’s been a while in the Premier League. I'm happy to get the first one and now hopefully I can build on that. I'm happy for the attackers as well, we showed a lot of character and a lot of confidence."

The Red Devils attackers have received a lot of flak in recent times for not being clinical in front of the goal. But after Tuesday's win, Garnacho issued a scathing response to all the critics as he said: "Too many people talk about the strikers at Manchester United: ‘we don’t score goals’. But today you see Rasmus with the assist and goals. We are very happy. One of the best days of my life."

The Argentine then looked at Hojlund and said: “I love you”, after the Dane awarded him the player of the match award.

While the former Atalanta forward had five goals to his name in six Champions League appearances, it took him 15 Premier League games to score his first-ever United league goal. Before the Boxing Day clash, Garnacho had just one goal to his name which was a spectacular overhead kick against Everton last month.

It was a much-needed victory for Erik ten Hag's side who had failed to win in their last four appearances across all competitions that involved three losses and a draw. With the three points against Aston Villa, the Red Devils have now gone up to sixth position and will next take on Nottingham Forest on Saturday in a league clash.
