Raphael Varane left in limbo! Ex-Man Utd star could see contract terminated by Como after playing just 20 minutes for new team and being left out of Serie A squad by coach Cesc Fabregas

Varane, who joined Como FC from Manchester United on a free transfer, has not been registered in their Serie A squad after sustaining an injury in the opening game of the season against Sampdoria in the Coppa Italia.

Varane signed a two-year contract until June 30th 2026 with the option for an additional season at the Northern Italian club. At this point, a consensual termination of the agreement has not been ruled out. His muscle injury is expected to rule him out for at least a month and a half, but he could face even longer on the sidelines with his recovery process.

The French defender missed 48 games for United during his three-year spell at the club due to a variety of injury problems. Now, he once again has to face up to the prospect of spending time on the treatment table.

Varane will hope to recover before the next registration window, which comes in January. Between now and then, though, he will not play a single Serie A game.
