  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

She was initially left out of Sarina Wiegman’s latest Lionesses squad, but was drafted into said pack following the withdrawal of others. Kelly started a Nations League clash with Spain on the bench, but was introduced just past the hour mark.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

The 27-year-old forward was given a warm reception by the Wembley crowd, with a notable landmark being hit. Kelly has reached a half-century at international level, having made her senior debut back in 2018.

  • WHAT LIONESSES SAID

Lionesses colleagues have been quick to sing Kelly’s praises. Chelsea defender Bright said: “50 caps for my sis, sp proud.” Leah Williamson merely said “there she is” while fellow Gunners star Russo added: “50 caps for the girl, so proud.” Keira Walsh chimed in with a “proud of you” message and Ella Toone said “love it”.

In a social media post of her own, Kelly said: “Grateful for 50. Every time stepping onto the pitch with 3 Lions on my chest is a honour. Little me dreamt of this.”
