    WHAT HAPPENED

    Following the regular MLS fixture between Orlando City and Chicago Fire, Exploria Stadium remained active as Special Olympics athletes took to the pitch for a Unified match supported by both clubs. The event paired Special Olympics athletes with partners without intellectual disabilities to form unified teams representing each MLS club.

    Players wore authentic Orlando City and Chicago Fire kits, received professional introductions through the stadium sound system, and played on the same field used by MLS professionals. The match was officiated by certified referees and featured coaching support from representatives of both organizations, creating a professional environment.

    Both clubs’ focus will now return to the MLS as Orlando City have to face Colorado Rapids on the road on June 14 in the league before facing St Louis at Energizer Park on June 25. Chicago Fire, on the other hand, will face DC United on the road on June 7 before returning home to host Nashville SC on June 14.
