'Supporting him is not good for your health!' - Darwin Nunez 'has lost the fans' after getting torn apart for wasteful display in Liverpool's win at Girona

Nunez fired a blank for Liverpool again on Tuesday as the Reds beat Girona 1-0 in the Champions League thanks to a penalty from Mohamed Salah. Liverpool's Uruguayan forward did have several chances against Michel's men but could not beat Paulo Gazzaniga in the Girona goal and has now gone five games without a goal. Fans were not shy in delivering their verdict on Nunez during the game on social media.

Liverpool fan @DistanceCovered posted on X: "Feel like I’ve aged about ten years since Liverpool signed Nunez. Supporting him is not good for your health."

And @Gbemiga__A had some bad news for Nunez, writing: "Haven’t seen anyone call Nunez 'darwizzy' In months. He’s truly lost the fans man."

@Kashe1dz added: "Tacticos say keep Nunez because he gets into good areas, so did Usain Bolt in the A-League, why pretend there’s not obviously more to it then that which can’t be quantifiable."

And @EfranAlexander added: "Darwin Nunez just put together back to back performances against Newcastle and Girona as bad as anything Lambert, Borini, Balotelli, Carroll, NGog have ever had. He needs an extended run on the bench. Give someone else a chance. Show me that Slot meritocracy in action por favor."

Nunez has come under scrutiny this season after managing just three goals for Liverpool in all competitions from 19 appearances. There have been questions raised over whether his style of play suits Liverpool's system and his lack of goals this season is likely to lead to further speculation over his position at the club and whether the Reds may look to offload him at the end of the current campaign.

Only Manchester City striker Erling Haaland (seven) has missed more big chances in the Champions League this season than Nunez (four).

Liverpool are back in action in the Premier League on Saturday against Fulham. Fans will have to wait and see if Nunez keeps his place in the starting XI or whether Arne Slot decides to replace the Uruguayan.
