Mexico's Edson Álvarez slots Chicharito 10th in his ranking of El Tri's best players

In a TikTok challenge, current Mexican National Team captain Edson Álvarez ranked the best players to have worn El Tri’s jersey. Everything seemed fine until the West Ham player placed Chicharito at the bottom of his 10-player ranking.

Javier Hernández remains Mexico’s all-time top scorer with 52 goals in 109 matches. The former América player punished Chicharito, the current Chivas striker - archrival of Las Águilas in Liga MX. The midfielder reserved the top spot for Hugo Sánchez, a five-time top scorer in LaLiga.

However, Sánchez's performances with the Mexican National Team have been questioned, as many believe he fell short of expectations. It's important to highlight that the names of historic players such as Rafael Márquez and Carlos Vela were not included.

Rafael Márquez, assistant to Javier Aguirre, also took part in a TikTok challenge. Meanwhile, Santiago Giménez posted a meme on his social media featuring himself and Jesús Gallardo, both wearing the new El Tri jersey.

Mexico is aiming for its first Nations League title.

Álvarez assumed the captaincy of the Mexican national team in May 2024, with an eye on the Copa América. He has worn the captain's armband four times.

El Tri faces Canada in the semifinals of the Nation's League. Edson Álvarez will play his 84th match with the Mexican national team.
