Martin Odegaard had a secret wedding! Arsenal captain appears to have married pregnant partner Helene Spilling as pair change marital status in Norway

According to VG, the national register in Norway shows that Odegaard is now a married man, having updated his marital status. The Norwegian midfielder has been busy during his time off the pitch after getting injured for Arsenal and chose not to make a fuss by having a secret wedding away from the public eye. The report adds that his new wife has officially changed her name to Helene Spilling Odegaard, while the couple announced in August they are expecting a child.

Fans of the Gunners and other clubs alike will be delighted for the 25-year-old as he prepares to make his comeback under Mikel Arteta. Last season's Premier League runners-up have been struggling in recent weeks, having fallen seven points behind current leaders Liverpool.

Arsenal are significantly less prolific without Odegaard in the team. With the Norway international, the Gunners average 2.1 goals per game. But without him, they average 1.6 and a near 10 per cent drop in their win percentage.

While Odegaard has still not stepped back onto a pitch yet, there is a plan in place for him to head away for the upcoming international break. The call-up will be a welcome boost for the red half of north London, who sit seven points off leaders Liverpool in the standings.
