Manchester United gazumped?! Noussair Mazraoui closes in on shock West Ham switch from Bayern Munich despite links with Red Devils

According to Sky Sports Germany, the Hammers have made significant progress in securing the Moroccan international as they have reached an agreement with the Bundesliga giants on a transfer fee of €15.5 million (£13m/$17m) with an additional €4 million (£3m/$4m) in potential add-ons. Moreover, there is also a "verbal agreement in principle" with Mazraoui which means that personal terms should not be a problem once Bayern give the green light.

United have also shown interest in the 26-year-old defender, but West Ham currently lead the race for his signature. If the Red Devils want to go ahead with an offer for Mazraoui, they would first need to offload Aaron Wan-Bissaka, as reported by The Athletic. The 26-year-old right-back has already declined a move to West Ham, preferring a transfer to Inter Milan, either this summer or as a free agent when his contract expires in June 2025.

The report also mentions that there are discussions among intermediaries about a potential swap deal that would see Wan-Bissaka move to Inter Milan and Denzel Dumfries join United. However, this idea remains in the early stages and is not yet close to completion.

West Ham's need for full-back reinforcements became more pressing following the departure of academy graduate Ben Johnson - who has joined newly-promoted Ipswich Town as a free agent. His void would be filled by Mazraoui who is versatile enough to play both as a right back and a left back.
