'Best city in Mexico!' - Ex-Man-Utd striker Javier Hernandez hints at sensational Liga MX transfer return after seeing MLS stint at LA Galaxy draw to a close

The former Manchester United striker is currently a free agent and is working to regain full fitness after an ACL injury cut short his stint with La Galaxy last summer. Although he reportedly had offers from MLS, Europe, and the Middle East, it is believed that none of them appealed to him as much as the one tabled by Chivas. Hernandez has now suggested that he will return home to Liga MX after 13 years.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Americas Kings League, Hernandez said that he would play "over there (Mexico)" in "the best city in Mexico" but remained silent when he was asked to name the place or team. However, he did reveal that he will be landing in Mexico in the next few weeks to complete his transfer.

Lorenzo Roman, the player's agent, also admitted that he has been working to pave the way for Hernandez to return to Mexico and claimed that the deal would be "very nice for both parties". It is understood that he has been in contact with Chivas officials for quite a few weeks and even travelled to Guadalajara to figure out the finer details of the contract.

Hernandez scored 39 times in 82 appearances in MLS across four seasons and even earned the 2022 MLS All-Star award. However, his ACL injury forced LA Galaxy to bid farewell to him in November, while his goals had also dried up in 2023 as he found the net only once in 12 matches across all competitions.

Chivas have already freed up the No.14 shirt for Hernandez, the same number he had on his back during his earlier stint at the club. Ricardo Marin, who used to wear the number, has opted to take No.19 before the beginning of Clausura 2024. If everything goes to plan, Hernandez will soon return to his roots where he started playing soccer from the age of nine.
