The scourge of Man Utd! Ex-Red Devil Danny Welbeck sets unique record as he plunders 100th career goal against his former employers for Brighton

Welbeck opened the scoring at the AMEX Stadium against United with a poacher's finish, as he poked in a fine cut-back from Kaoru Mitoma. The goal brings up a unique record for the striker, who has now scored five goals against his old club since leaving in 2014 to join Arsenal. No former United player has scored more against them.

The goal has added significance as it is Welbeck's 100th club career goal. The former England striker has also now netted a goal in each of the last 15 Premier League seasons, marking him out as one of the more consistent centre-forwards in the top-flight.

Welbeck scored 29 goals in 142 games for United before making his move to Arsenal, where he scored 32 goals in 126 outings. He has also scored for Sunderland, Watford and Preston, as well as Brighton, throughout a lengthy career.

Brighton are next in action in the EFL Cup, as they face Crawley Town on Tuesday. They will then face Arsenal at the Emirates in the league next weekend.
