Former Manchester United man Anderson is reportedly facing prison time over unpaid child support. The 37-year-old could receive a 30-day custodial sentence in Brazil if he does not pay £142,000 he is said to owe in child maintenance. A decision was taken in early September by a family court judge in Porto Alegre but reports over this have just emerged.
Anderson's life takes a turn after football
The midfielder made a name for himself at United, where he chalked up 181 appearances and won four Premier Leagues and a Champions League, among other successes. In 2020, the year he retired, he was accused of laundering £4.7 million through cryptocurrencies, and now this new scandal has come to light.

Anderson at risk of jail time
According to reports, Anderson was told to pay around £142,000 at a court ruling on September 3, and if he doesn't do that, he will be confined to a cell and supervised under a tough 'closed regime'. This is said to be based on the alimony payments the Brazilian, who has fathered nine children, owed as of July 28, 2025.
Terms of Anderson's potential imprisonment
It is said that if the local prison system is overcrowded, Anderson could be placed under a more flexible arrangement that allows for limited activities, such as study or community work, before returning to his lock-up at night.

Time running out for Anderson
The former Internacional player, who earned eight caps for Brazil, is yet to make any official comment on this matter. If the ex-Gremio ace doesn't abide by the court's rules, he could spend time behind bars very soon.
