Haaland had a quiet game as City crumbled to a sixth defeat in seven games. The Norway international managed just two attempts from 16 touches - the least of any player who started the game - in a defeat that likely marks the end of his team's Premier League title challenge.
AFPDespite the devastating defeat, Haaland could be seen smiling as he talked to Virgil van Dijk after the full-time whistle and joking with Mohamed Salah after the Egyptian made it 2-0 from the penalty spot, which angered many of those watching.
X user @MitchHalley summed up the frustration, writing: "Haaland is a f*cking disgrace laughing and joking with Liverpool players when getting beat."
@AaronBx21 added: "Haaland laughing with Salah after we go 2-0 down!! I've seen enough of that sh*t lanky c***, get him gone."
"Haaland laughing after that performance would have my head on mars if I was a City fan," said @NathanShapland_, while @sneakyshaunny added: "Haaland has no shame, still laughing and joking, pathetic mentality."
Another fan, @PIreland33, agreed, saying: "Haaland walking around laughing and joking with all Liverpool players, [I'd] be fuming if that was one of our players having been invisible for 5 games."
"Haaland's non-performances supplemented by laughing and joking with opposition defenders during this run needs addressing, needs to sort himself out," said @Dobs85Y.
A furious @Ryan_vanmanen wrote: "Haaland busy smiling the f*cker does nothing and still wants to make jokes. Your first touch is a joke why don't you laugh about that."
And @moloneyrobert said: "Something very wrong at City. Haaland laughing and joking with the Liverpool players after the match after losing to their main title rivals."
During the game, the Norway international failed to win a ground or aerial duel, completed just seven passes and registered only one shot on target as he struggled in his battle with Virgil van Dijk.
