On a rainy and humid evening in Fort Lauderdale, Lionel Messi and Inter Miami escaped with minutes to spare, securing a 1-0 victory over D.C. United. With his first touch of the game in the 94th minute, Campana found the back of the net seconds after entering the pitch.

The match itself kicked off later than expected due to an initial severe wether delay due to lightning in the area, but began roughly 30 minutes later than intended.

It was the Argentine's return to the starting XI after missing Wednesday's 0-0 draw with South Florida rivals Orlando City, but it was not an eventful one for Messi. However, Campana's heroics rescued his quiet showing.

With the Ecuadorian's third goal of the MLS season, he singlehandedly earned Miami three points after a bleak attacking showing from the Herons.

    THE MVP

    Jordi Alba:

The Spaniard made his triumphant return to the starting XI Saturday evening, marking his first start since April 13. He was lights-out on the left flank and kept a clean sheet. The 35-year-old had a really solid performance, and it was incredible evident how more defensively sound Miami is with him in the mix.

    THE BIG LOSER

    Luis Suarez:

The Uruguayan was arguably Miami's worst performer on the night, as he was more worried with why the official was blowing the whistle rather than his own performance on the pitch. He ended the night with zero shots on target, just one touch in the opposition's box and was caught offside twice.

His second-straight scoreless match, he was a liability in the attack Saturday.
