Earlier this month it was reported that the 34-year-old had attracted interest from English clubs as his minutes at Ajax started to dwindle. Henderson, who signed for the Dutch club in January, has started just twice in the Eredivisie this season, and his lack of involvement has caught the eye of Premier League and Championship clubs.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Henderson has endured a rocky time of things since leaving Liverpool in the summer of 2023. He would later come to call his decision to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq a "mistake" as he came under fire for chasing the money, and he's now struggling to get minutes in an Ajax side that isn't pulling up trees in the Netherlands.
DID YOU KNOW?
A return to familiar surroundings would presumably suit the former England midfielder, and Football Insider claim Championship side Sunderland are working on a deal to sign him in the January window. Their report adds that Henderson "would welcome" a return to his boyhood club, who he played for before joining Liverpool in 2011. The Black Cats are currently top of the Championship and have their sights firmly set on reaching the Premier League.
