  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Watt has once again sparked excitement by hinting at a possible NFL return, this time using Burnley’s recent 4-0 victory over Luton Town. Luton’s chances of a positive result took a hit early on, when Kal Naismith was sent off after picking up two yellow cards within minutes.

Burnley capitalised on their numerical advantage, with Mark McGuinness unfortunate enough to score an own goal, giving the Clarets a 1-0 lead. The goals kept coming for the Clarets with Lyle Foster, Josh Brownhill and Ashley Barnes getting their names on the scoresheet.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Earlier this season, Watt jokingly bet that he would come out of NFL retirement and rejoin the Cincinnati Bengals if Burnley managed to maintain their clean sheet streak for the rest of the season. However, their remarkable run of 12 consecutive shutouts came to an end during a Championship clash against Cardiff City earlier this week.

  • WHAT WATT SAID

Not one to shy away from fun, Watt returned with a new challenge following the 4-0 drubbing of Luton Town. On X (formerly Twitter), he playfully stated: “If we score 4 goals every game, I’ll come back.”

    WHAT NEXT FOR BURNLEY?

Looking ahead, Burnley will be back at Turf Moor next Tuesday to face West Bromwich Albion, another promotion contender. The Clarets are just two points behind second-placed Sheffield United and if they continue their current form, there’s every reason to believe that Burnley could be playing in the Premier League next season.
