Lineker mocks Richards on Match Of The Day
Defender part of 2015-16 Aston Villa squad
This season's Southampton closing in on unwanted records
In the analysis of Southampton's 5-0 defeat to Brentford, the pundits were comparing some of the weakest sides in Premier League history after 20 games. Among the teams were Richards' Villa, who were relegated in 2016, and Lineker was quick to point out Richards' part in their plight. The former England defender was keen to move on from the discussion quickly.

WHAT LINEKER & RICHARDS SAID
Mocking Richards, Lineker said: "Aston Villa 2015/16... that rings a bell. Micah, you were in that team!"
Richards laughed before replying: "Moving on swiftly. Out of time, aren't we Gaz?!"
THE BIGGER PICTURE
After 20 games, Richards' Villa had eight points and would go on to earn only another nine in their remaining 18 games. This season, Southampton have accrued just six points from their opening 20 games - matching the record for the worst start to a Premier League season at this stage. Only Sunderland in 2005-06 have matched a record so poor - even Derby County in 2007-08 had more points (seven).

WHAT NEXT FOR SOUTHAMPTON?
The Saints have serious work to do if they are to beat Richards' Villa, let alone avoid relegation. New manager Ivan Juric needs a miracle to stave off relegation and will be painfully aware of Derby's record low of 11 points in a season as a milestone to clear.
