Gareth Southgate's next job? Ex-England boss emerges as potential replacement for Sean Dyche at Everton as Friedkin Group take control

Earlier this week, reports emerged that American billionaire Dan Friedkin, who also owns AS Roma, has reached an agreement for the purchase of Everton from majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri. Per talkSPORT, Friedkin's first major step as the Toffees' new owner could be parting ways with current manager Dyche as they look to rope in ex-England boss Southgate.

Dyche, who joined the Merseyside club in January 2023, has managed them in 70 games across all competitions thus far where they have won 23 times, drawn 19 times and lost on 28 occasions. In the ongoing season, the club are off to a nightmare start having lost four out of their first five Premier League matches. The 53-year-old manager's current deal with Everton expires next summer which means that the club will have to pay a nominal sum as compensation if they decide to sack him now.

Another name that is floating around is that of former Chelsea and Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri who is currently without a job. As per reports in Italian media (via Sport Witness) the Toffees could also consider bringing the veteran Italian coach back to the Premier League.

Southgate left the England job this summer after eight years following their heartbreaking loss to Spain in the Euro 2024 final. Under the English coach's tutelage, the Three Lions played back-to-back European Championship finals and reached the semi-final of the 2018 World Cup.

For now, Dyche will aim to end the club's winless run in the league on Saturday as they take on Crystal Palace at home.
