Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies banned from driving for one month after being found guilty of driving Lamborghini under the influence

The Canadian defender was stopped and breathalysed by police after 2am on Friday and was found to have blood alcohol level of 0.6 grams of alcohol per litre. While this is not a a criminal offence in Germany (a minimum of 0.8 grams of alcohol per litre), it is considered an administrative offence (a minimum of 0.8 grams of alcohol per litre). As such, he has been handed a one-month driving ban, the Athletic report.

Davies finds himself in the headlines once again. The Canadian defender has become embroiled in a contract stand-off with Bayern, who hope to extend his stay in Bavaria, and is courting attention from Real Madrid and Manchester United. Davies has developed into one of the world's best left-backs in Germany and Vincent Kompany will not want to lose his services for nothing next summer. Bayern are already exploring the possibility of signing Theo Hernandez or David Raum as a replacement should Davies walk out the door, as per Florian Plettenberg.

Davies initially broke through as a winger for the Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS, playing 65 times and scoring on eight occasions. It was only at Bayern where Davies was transformed into a defender and stole the show as they tore Barcelona apart in the Champions League.

Davies' contract discussions continue with Bayern but there is no guarantee that a breakthrough will be made. The defender could be tempted by a switch to the Spanish capital to replace Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia as Los Blancos' left-back and will be free to discuss terms from January.
