Arsenal dealt Martin Zubimendi blow! Real Madrid 'put pressure' on Spain midfielder over potential €60m move from Real Sociedad

According to Spanish radio outlet El Partidazo by COPE, Real Madrid are determined to secure the signing of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad this summer and are 'putting pressure' on the player to arrive at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Zubimendi has been playing for the Real Sociedad first team since 2019 and has racked up over 200 appearances for the Txuri-Urdin. However, the player is well aware of the fact that he will not be able to taste collective success at the Anoeta and that Real Madrid offers him the best chance to win the league and the Champions League.

The 26-year-old has caught the attention of Los Blancos, who view him as an ideal addition to strengthen their midfield. Given his sheer quality, tactical intelligence, and ability to control the tempo of the game, the Spanish international has become a sought-after target who could offer balance and mirror the role Toni Kroos played for 10 years at the club.

What's more, playing for a team like Madrid could also strengthen his case to become a more regular member of the Spain XI under Luis de la Fuente, who has mostly preferred the likes of Fabian Ruiz, Pedri, Dani Olmo, and the currently injured Rodri to feature in midfield.

Zubimendi's agent is still considering offers, with the Santiago Bernabeu emerging as the player's most likely destination. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is already pushing the deal forward, making the prospect of Zubimendi joining the club increasingly likely. This could prove to be a hammer blow to Arsenal, who have been desperate to acquire the Basque Country native's services.

Zubimendi started in both legs of Spain's quarter-final win over Netherlands in the Nations League, playing a total of 195 minutes. He will return to club duties this weekend, when Imanol Algaucil's side take on Real Valladolid on Saturday, March 29.
