Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta pours cold water on potential Victor Osimhen transfer as he backs three current stars to fulfil striker role

Arsenal had reportedly revived their interest in Nigeria international Osimhen - who seems intent on leaving Napoli this summer. Despite that, manager Arteta has talked up the likes of Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, and Leandro Trossard as attackers, while seemingly ruling out a new striker addition.

Amid links with Osimhen, Arteta said: “We have some great strikers. Gabi (Gabriel) Jesus is there, Kai (Havertz) has played there a lot of minutes, Leo (Leandro Trossard) has played there and we believe we have all the necessities as well. We fully trust our players. We want to get better for sure and we will try but we are going to try with the players that are already with us.”

Arsenal are trying to dethrone Manchester City as the Premier League's top dogs after Pep Guardiola's men won their fourth-straight league title last term. Some have argued that the Gunners need to sign a new number nine to pip the Citizens to the title, but Arteta appears quite bullish they don't need more reinforcements up top.

As the summer transfer window enters its last week, Arteta's Arsenal take on Unai Emery's Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon at Villa Park, before rounding off the month at home to Brighton.
