    WHAT HAPPENED?

The first north London derby of the 2024-25 season takes place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday in what will be an eagerly-anticipated clash by fans of both sides as the Premier League resumes after the international break. Arsenal and Tottenham usually wear their traditional colours for the famous fixture but this time around the Gunners have been forced to change.

  • THE EXPLANATION

Arsenal have confirmed that they will be in their new black away kit for the match as the Gunners' home strip contains "too much white" and clashes with Tottenham's traditional colours. Mikel Arteta's side did discuss wearing red shorts and socks for the match but the offer was rejected. The Premier League and PGMOL have also decided that Tottenham will return the favour at the Emirates and change colours when the two teams meet again later in the season.
