Ruben Amorim has revealed Bruno Fernandes suffered 'soft tissue' damage during Manchester United's 2-1 loss at Aston Villa. The battling Red Devils were undone by two fine strikes from Morgan Rogers, which came either side of Matheus Cunha's equaliser. But ultimately, the visitors' afternoon was overshadowed by the injury picked up by their near-ever present captain.

Former Manchester United favourite Nemanja Matic came in support of the club, ex-head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as the midfielder claimed that the Norwegian 'deserved more time' as Man Utd boss. Solskjaer lasted almost three years at Old Trafford before being sacked by his former club due to a poor start to their campaign in the 2021-22 season.

Manchester United saw festive cheer sapped by an injury to Bruno Fernandes during their visit to Aston Villa, with a Morgan Rogers brace firing the hosts to a 2-1 win and 10th consecutive victory in all competitions. Matheus Cunha was handed a gift late in the first-half, as he found the target, but defensive frailties ensured that the Red Devils left the West Midlands with nothing to show for their efforts.

Kobbie Mainoo has been left out of Manchester United's matchday squad to face Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday. The midfielder was expected to at least be among the substitutes but was a surprise omission from the Red Devils' travelling party. A reason has now been given for his absence as United look to kick off the festive period with a win on the road.

Ruben Amorim says Manchester United are ready to enter the January transfer market but only if the “perfect” player is available. The Red Devils continue to be linked with a host of central midfielders but the Portuguese head coach has suggested the club are even prepared to strengthen in another area of the pitch, provided the signing is one for the long term.

Jadon Sancho might be more of a basketball man than baseball but ever since he joined Aston Villa he has been on his third strike. He flopped terribly at Manchester United even before blowing his career up over a petty dispute with Erik ten Hag. He then failed to convince on loan at Chelsea, who backed out of an agreed deal to sign him. Now he is a periphery squad member for Villa.

Manchester United have been told to sign Borussia Dortmund star Karim Adeyemi to replace Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo during their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) absence. The Red Devils are bracing themselves for a difficult festive period as the AFCON threatens to strip Ruben Amorim of a crucial spine on the right side of his team.
