Harry Kane & Michael Olise 'always there at the right time' as ex-Bayern Munich star says Vincent Kompany's men passed Chelsea test' with flying colours'

Bayern powered to a 3-1 victory over Chelsea in the Champions League, with Kane once again at the centre of the action. The England captain struck twice, including a first-half penalty and a composed finish after a defensive lapse from the visitors. The 32-year-old has now scored 10 goals in six games this season, underlining his status as Bayern’s leading man in Europe.

French international Olise showed his growing influence on Bayern’s attack, tormenting Chelsea’s backline with creativity and flair. It was his cross that forced Trevoh Chalobah’s own goal, while he also set up Kane for the penalty with a clever through ball. Kompany described Olise as “turning into a superstar,” praising his natural ability and consistency at the highest level.

Former Bayern midfielder Didi Hamann believes the Chelsea clash was an early “benchmark” for Kompany’s side. 

“The match against Chelsea was the first test of the season, and Bayern passed it with flying colours,” Hamann noted in his latest column in Sky Sport. He also highlighted the resurgence of Serge Gnabry, whose pace and spark could prove vital in Europe.

"In Michael Olise and Harry Kane, they have two players who are always there at the right time. Serge Gnabry has regained the liveliness he'd been lacking for some time. If he can maintain his form consistently, he can be very important. You need players like him with pace and that certain something, because they can decide games. That's why the national coach will be monitoring his performances closely in the coming weeks."

Chelsea began strongly, pressing with intensity and pulling one back through Cole Palmer after a slick counterattack. However, defensive mistakes proved costly, with all three Bayern goals linked to lapses in concentration. Enzo Maresca’s substitutions failed to shift momentum, and Bayern grew in confidence, with their fans chanting “Olé” as the result became inevitable.

The win keeps Bayern’s momentum rolling as they prepare to face Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga before travelling to Cyprus to play in Alphamega Stadium against Pafos in the Champions League on September 30. Kane looks set to continue his hot streak, while Olise’s emergence adds further depth to their frontline.
