Malaysia face Hong Kong at the Hong Kong National Stadium on Tuesday looking to pick up their first win of the campaign with Eduardo Vingada not particularly bothered how it is achieved.
In Group B, Malaysia are down in last place with only one point after two matches played. However a win over Hong Kong could push Malaysia all the way to second place, should current group leaders Lebanon also achieve a win against North Korea, in the group's other match.
Vingada stressed during the pre-match press conference on Monday evening that he only wants to see his charges get all three points and that perhaps his side may go for the more industrial route to achieve that.
"We are coming with a lot of optimism and we are ready to run and fight. Hong Kong because they are home, has an advantage. The most important is that at the end of game, the players and the country can be proud of what we have done. We have to fight and get a positive result."
"I know them better and I have now a complete vision of the players and the level of football in Malaysia. If you ask me, I prefer to collect points than a good game. Because in football only one thing remain for the future - the result.
"I was telling the players about the Turkey v Iceland game where Iceland won even though statically, Turkey were the better team. We have to play realistic for the result. We maybe have to put to the head when Hong Kong may prefer to put to the feet," said Vingada in Hong Kong.
It doesn't promise to be a pretty affair on Tuesday and Vingada may opt for a defensive line-up while looking to hit Hong Kong on the break. A plan that may also be in place because of the pull-out of attacking duo in Hazwan Bakri and Shahrel Fikri due to respective injuries.
"Tomorrow [Tuesday] is the most important game for us because it's the next. What is in the past we cannot change but we can learn, as we did in the previous game against Lebanon and Hong Kong. Looking at the group, Lebanon has a good advantage."
"So maybe three teams fighting for second place. This means tomorrow for both teams, it's a crucial game. The draw in Melaka was not a convenient result for both teams," added Vingada.
As Malaysia will face North Korea (twice) and Lebanon in the final three matches in the group, there is no doubt that a positive result at Hong Kong will go a long way in helping Malaysia to retain an active interest for the rest of the qualifiers.
