Marc Van Heerden: AmaZulu will match Orlando Pirates pound for pound

AmaZulu FC defender Marc Van Heerden believes that they can match Orlando Pirates pound for pound.

The two teams will clash in the 2018 Telkom Knockout quarter-final match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.

‘’I really believe that as a group of individuals we have what it takes to achieve the goals we have set out for the season," Van Heerden told the club's official website.

Usuthu are heading into the Cup match having lost 3-0 to Cape Town City in a PSL match in the Mother City last weekend

‘’The guys were really disappointed in themselves, we sat down as a team and we said to ourselves, we really need to work harder," the 30-year-old continued.

AmaZulu held Pirates to a 1-1 draw in an enthralling PSL match which was played in Durban earlier this month.

‘’Looking forward, the guys are really motivated in terms of wanting to do well, to push to survive. We showed against Pirates when we played them that we can match them pound for pound," he said.

Van Heerden, who is a free-kick specialist, declares that going another step further in the Telkom Knockout would be a huge positive for the club and for the brand as a whole.

‘’I believe that us going a step further in the cup would be something good for the club and for each and every individual in the club, management and staff,” he concluded.

The encounter between AmaZulu and Pirates will kick-off at 18h00.
