Liverpool goalkeeper ruled out for the rest of the season

Bogdan was stretchered off during the Latics' Championship clash with Barnsley, with scans revealing a tear to his ACL, which will leave him sidelined for the rest of the season.

Since joining Wigan, Bogdan had started 17 league games as they battle to avoid relegation to League One.

The Hungary international confirmed the news on Instagram, writing of his disappointment.

"I have just received the result of my MRI scan, which showed that I tore my ACL in my right knee," said Bogdan.

"It will be a lengthy recovery. I am sure I will return stronger."

Bogdan is currently down the pecking order at Anfield, with Loris Karius the preferred number one under Jurgen Klopp after moving from Mainz.

Simon Mignolet and Alex Manninger are also in Klopp's squad, while there is also competition from young duo Ryan Fulton and Danny Ward.
