Barca accept entry to potential European Super League - Bartomeu


Barcelona have accepted an invitation to join a proposed new European Super League, according to outgoing president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

In an announcement of his resignation, Bartomeu also confirmed Barca's approval to join the proposed competition, which has generated plenty of controversy.

Galaxy won't pay $20m Pavon clause


The LA Galaxy won't activate their $20 million purchase option on Cristian Pavon at season's end, reports TyC Sports.

The 24-year-old appears set to return to Boca Juniors after originally joining the Galaxy on loan in August 2019.

Pato has interest in Italy and England


Genoa, Spezia, Monza and Birmingham City are all keen on a move for free agent forward Alexandre Pato, reports Calciomercato.

The 31-year-old is looking for a new club after recently being released by Sao Paulo.

It appears the former Brazil international has options, with clubs in Serie A, Serie B and the Championship considering a move.

Musa wants Europe return after leaving Al-Nassr


Ahmed Musa has said he wants to return to Europe after leaving Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.

The former CSKA Moscow and Leicester City striker is a free agent after his request to terminate his contract with Al-Nassr was accepted.

"I have enjoyed my time in the two years that I have been here, and the club have been great to me," Musa told ESPN.

"But I have always wanted to return to Europe, and I feel that this is the best time for me to make that move."

Bartomeu resigns as Barcelona president


Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has resigned, with the entire board also stepping down from their posts.

Bartomeu had been under fire after Barca failed to win a trophy last season, which was followed by Lionel Messi's request to leave the club.

Former Bundesliga defender Papadopoulos signs with Lokomotovia Zagreb


Former Bundesliga defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos has signed with Lokomotiva Zagreb, the club announced.

The Greek international most recently played for Hamburg from 2017-20, having previously played for Schalke, Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig.

Internationally, he's earned 29 caps for Greece, making their squad for Euro 2012.

Barca keeping tabs on Simons


Barcelona are keeping tabs on Paris Saint-Germain youngster Xavi Simons, reports Le10Sport.

Simons was previously a member of Barca's academy from 2010-19 before making the move to Paris.

The 16-year-old starlet played for the first team in August, taking part in a friendly against Sochaux. 

Favre blames Sancho struggles on transfer speculation


Lucien Favre says that Jadon Sancho's struggles are the result of a summer full of transfer speculation.

The winger was heavily linked to Manchester United all summer, and Favre says those links have taken a toll.

Corinthians looking to sign Monaco's Jemerson


Brazilian side Corinthians are looking to bring in Jemerson from Monaco, reports Globo Esporte.

Corinthians have already submitted a proposal to sign the defender, who has a contract with the Ligue 1 side until the end of next season.

Jemerson has played just one game this season, having failed to impress manager Niko Kovac.

Brighton to gave Bayern target Lamptey new deal


Brighton will attempt to ward off interest from Bayern Munich by giving Tariq Lamptey a new contract, The Sun reports.

The 20-year-old has been in fine form since joining from Chelsea in January, attracting admiring glances from Bayern and Sevilla

Lamptey currently earns £14,000 per week plus bonuses, but the Seagulls are looking to significantly boost that figure. 

Favre blames Sancho poor form on transfer speculation


Jadon Sancho's slow start to the season could be down to constant speculation over his future, according to Borussia Dortmund head coach Lucien Favre. 

Sancho was consistently linked with a move to Manchester United over the summer, but the Red Devils' attempts to land the England star ultimately fell short.

Liverpool keen on Thuram move


Liverpool contacted Borussia Monchengladbach over a move for star midfielder Marcus Thuram this summer.

The 23-year-old, who is the son of France legend Lilian, has attracted plenty of attention for his stellar displays in the Bundesliga

"For me, Marcus is destined for a top club. He was already sounded out by Liverpool this summer," Movistar commentator Alain Valnegri told El Pais. "He has skill, he shoots, he's got huge power, he's a dribbler, and he moves well in tight spaces."

Pochettino in talks with Zenit


Mauricio Pochettino could be set for a return to coaching.

The former Tottenham boss has been linked with Real Madrid, Juventus and Inter in recent months but Championat reports that he is in talks with Russian giants Zenit.

Mbappe has already decided to leave PSG, says Rami


Kylian Mbappe has already decided to leave Paris Saint-Germain, according to the striker's former France team-mate Adil Rami. 

The star forward has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid, and Liverpool also have been credited with an interest.

Mbappe is contracted to PSG until the end of the 2021-22 season.

Liverpool are monitoring IFK Norrkoping teenager Isak Bergmann Johannesson - according to Expressen

The Reds sent scouts to watch the 17-year-old during a 2-2 draw with AIK on Monday, and could swoop for his services next year.

Manchester United are Juventus are also being linked with Johannesson, who has already featured in two games for Iceland's U21s.

Tottenham centre-back Davinson Sanchez is the subject of interest from Everton - according to Don Balon.

James Rodriguez has advised the Toffees to move for his Colombia team-mate when the transfer window reopens.

Juve made summer approach for Fati


Juventus made an approach for Barcelona teenager Ansu Fati in the summer transfer window - as Calcio Mercato reports.

The Bianconeri contacted the Spanish giants over the 17-year old's availability, but were immediately shot down.

Barca have no plans to sell Fati, who is due to come up against Juventus in a Champions League group stage clash on Wednesday.

AC Milan are likely to make a new attempt to sign Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna in January, Calciomercato reports.

The San Siro side tried to land the 21-year-old in the summer transfer window but would not match Bologna's €25 million (£23m/$30m) asking price.

Sinisa Mihajlovic's team expect the Japan international's value to increase even further, but Milan are not willing to offer more than €15m (£14m/$18m), so could find their advances turned down once again.

France star Griezmann has not been able to win a place in the Catalan side’s starting XI and the club are open to letting him go.

Lyon will be desperate to find a suitable replacement for Depay and believe they can talk Barca into a swap deal.

Pep Guardiola has addressed Sergio Aguero's contract situation at Manchester City, while admitting the Blues "miss him a lot" when he's not fit to play.

Aguero has just entered the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium, having spent the last nine years of his career in Manchester.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes the club still needs to pursue the signing of Lyon star Houssem Aouar despite the acquistion of Thomas Partey.

The Gunners spent the window strongly linked with the French midfielder but ended up signing Partey from Atletico just before the window closed.

As quoted by Metro, Wright told Premier League Productions: "I don’t mind that [Partey’s disciplinary record] because he’s somebody that does intercept. Already from his first game he’s got more interceptions individually than the rest of Arsenal’s midfield. He’s somebody that can win the ball but he can progress the ball.

"They still need more, he’s not the main one and that’s why Arsenal went for Houssem Aouar as well. I’m hoping they can still get him at some stage but Partey is a massive improvement on what Arsenal have got."

Gerard Pique inserted a clause in to this new Barcelona contract that allows him to leave if he wishes - but not to a top European rival.

According to Spanish publication Sport, the central defender's new deal - which expires in 2024 - allows him to join an MLS club or retire, but not sign with a big European team.
