Kotoko officials discharged from hospital after gunshots in Berekum

The two officials of Asante Kotoko, who were taken to hospital with wounds from a fight outside Golden City Park on Sunday, have been discharged and allowed to go home, according to the club’s sources.

Moments before the game between Berekum Chelsea and Kotoko kick off, gunshots were heard outside the facility, which security operatives said were fired by Kotoko’s policy analyst Amo Sarpong in response to an attack by the home fans on Kotoko’s operations officer.  

Both officials sustained injuries and were rushed to Sunyani Government hospital for treatment.

However, the incident had no impact on the game which went ahead as planned, ending in a goalless draw.

Kotoko remain leaders of Zone A with 14 points while Chelsea occupy the bottom spot with four points.
