Klopptinite! Liverpool boss boasts best managerial record against Guardiola

Liverpool's breathless 4-3 win over Manchester City should have come as no surprise to Jurgen Klopp, who now holds the best record of any manager against Pep Guardiola.

The Reds' triumph, which ended City's 30-game unbeaten league run in the process, made it five wins for Klopp against Guardiola, more than Jose Mourinho (4), Arsene Wenger (3) and Luis Enrique (2).

Klopp's Dortmund beat Pep's Bayern three times - 4-2 in the 2013-14 German Super Cup final, 3-0 in Bundesliga in that same season and 2-0 in the 2014 Super Cup final - while his Liverpool side have now won twice, after also beating them 1-0 in the Premier League last term.

Dortmund also defeated Bayern on penalties in a 2015 German Cup semi-final, but that statistically counts as a draw as opposed to a victory.

Despite Liverpool's efforts, City remain 15 points clear of the chasing pack - Manchester United, Chelsea and Klopp's men all have 47 points - but the gap could be cut to 12 if United defeat Stoke City at Old Trafford on Monday.

The Reds' victory also moves them three points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham, and eight ahead of Arsenal, who lost 2-1 to Bournemouth on Sunday.
