Hazard hints at Chelsea stay amid Madrid links as he targets another Player of the Year award

Eden Hazard continues to be linked with Real Madrid, but he is looking for another Premier League title and Player of the Year award at Chelsea.

The Belgium international enjoyed a welcome return to form in 2016-17, with his efforts helping the Blues to restore domestic dominance in England.

His contribution to the Stamford Bridge cause was recognised at the end of the season, as he beat PFA Player of the Year N’Golo Kante to the club’s Player of the Year prize.

Kante: Why I snubbed PSG

Hazard insists that it is his intention to defend that crown in 2017-18, with the 26-year-old happy where he is and paying no attention to the ongoing speculation surrounding his future.

He told the Chelsea magazine: “Hopefully next year it is the same, we win the league and then I win Player of the Year.

“Obviously winning the league is what we want most and the award is just a bonus.

“We started this season well and we won the league, but next year we have to work as hard as we have this season. We have to be ready every year at the same level to stay at the top.

“I’ve been here for five years now and I’m so happy. I’m at one of the best clubs in the world, so I’m very happy to play for such a big club like this.

“After five years I know everything about the club. Even if I’m still only 26, I have a lot of experience now.

“I started playing at 16 in France so I’ve been professional for 10 years. In terms of games and experience, I’m one of the oldest ones.

Why everybody wants Van Dijk

“I like this club because it’s like a family. I have a lot of friends and we all talk to each other.”

While setting his sights on more silverware at Chelsea, it remains to be seen whether Hazard will be ready for the start of the new season.

He recently damaged ankle ligaments while away on international duty and is expected to be sidelined for around three months.
