Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt hints at signing former Orlando Pirates midfielder Thandani Ntshumayelo

Bidvest Wits head coach Gavin Hunt has hinted that they could sign former Orlando Pirates midfielder Thandani 'Bibo' Ntshumayelo.

The 28-year-old player is currently on trial at the Clever Boys as he looks to relaunch his career after serving a two-year drug ban.

“We have to give the boy a chance. Everybody deserves a second chance. It’s important. We can’t write off people who’ve made mistakes in life. We all make mistakes," Hunt told the Daily Sun.

Hunt is pleased with how Ntshumayelo is performing at training thus far as he looks to earn a deal with the Braamfontein-based club.

The accomplished coach worked with the former South Africa youth international at SuperSport United where they won the Premier Soccer League (PSL) title.

“He’s training, he’s running. We have to get him fit. His attitude is right, which is the most important thing. I’m happy for him. I’m going to give him a run in a friendly. We’ll see how it goes,” he continued.

Wits were pitted against Free State Stars in the 2018 Telkom Knockout Last 16 draw earlier this week.

Hunt's side is the defending champions having won the competition last season after defeating Bloemfontein Celtic in the final.

The former Moroka Swallows coach is expecting a busy period after current Fifa international break.

“It’s the same every year, we already know the programme. You have the Fifa break and then you have another one, then it’s the Knockout Challenge," he said.

“So, if you get knocked out in the first round then you have a problem. It means you will not be playing that much football in the month of November," Hunt added.

“Let’s try and win the first game. It won’t be easy. Stars are a good side and come from a good result at the weekend," he explained.

“Coming back from a Fifa break is always difficult. “We have seven players away (on national team duty). Stars don’t have a lot of players away," he concluded.

Wits' encounter against Stars will be played at the Goble Park Stadium on October 20.
