    WHAT HAPPENED?

    Vinicius picked up a muscular injury to his thigh during Real Madrid's 3-0 win over Leganes and Los Blancos have now confirmed that the Brazilian will miss out on close to three weeks of action. Vinicius has since blamed the packed footballing calendar for his injury and the beliefs have now been echoed by Tebas, who referenced the lawsuit against FIFA over the scheduling issues.

    Speaking at the AFE Awards, Tebas said: “It is clear that the calendar is overloaded. There are many competitions and it causes injuries. It is an objective fact. La Liga has sued FIFA in the European Union.”

    The increasing load on players through the football season has become a point of issue raised by several players, clubs and leagues as the number of games continue to increase and so do the injuries related to overworking players through the season. Players' union, FIFPRO has already launched an official complaint against FIFA in accordance with top European leagues as they look to clock the expanded 2025 Club World Cup, that is set to take place at the end of the current year.

    Real Madrid have not mentioned the exact timeline for Vinicius' return but it is hoped that he could be able to return to action before the end of the calendar year.
