Villa Park's stage fright! Aston Villa accidentally play Europa League anthem instead of iconic Champions League music to much confusion before PSG clash

Shortly before the second leg of this Champions League quarter-final tie got underway on Tuesday night, the competition's famous anthem was supposed to be played but instead the Europa League one was. This caused quite the stir on social media.

@Vondopoulos wrote on X: "Emery's got them playing the Europa League music, he knows what he needs."

@DanAV___ tweeted: "WRONG ANTHEM YOURE GETTING FIRED."

@Jaytorial commented: "Aston Villa playing Europa League music instead of the Champions League anthem has to be the most embarrassing thing I’ve seen. How do you get it so wrong?!"

@MN456782 put: "Tinpot Villa playing the wrong anthem they won’t ever playing champions league anthem. #avfc."

@CFC_Danne added: "If I were a villa fan I’d be fuming, biggest night in your clubs recent history and they’ve played the wrong f*cking anthem."

While this was a comical mistake by the stadium organisers, the main focus will be on Villa trying to overturn a 3-1 first-leg deficit to the recently crowned French champions. If they don't, this is still the furthest Villa have got in the competition since they won it in 1982.

After this game, Villa host fellow top five hopefuls Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday, whereas PSG entertain Le Havre in Ligue 1 on the same day.
