The PFA Young Player of the Year, who was also picked out as the Three Lions’ star man in 2023-24, carried a knock into the Premier League meeting with the Gunners at Stamford Bridge. He took a hefty blow from Lisandro Martinez during the 1-1 draw with Manchester United the previous weekend.

Palmer was passed fit to face Arsenal, and completed 90 minutes of top-flight action for Enzo Maresca’s side in another contest that finished 1-1. The 22-year-old is now due to link up with England ahead of their UEFA Nations League clashes with Greece and the Republic of Ireland.

More fitness questions are, however, being asked of the exciting playmaker after he was caught on camera hobbling away from Chelsea’s stalemate with Arsenal. He will likely be assessed by England’s medical team before any decision is made on his involvement in upcoming international fixtures.

Chelsea will be eager to ensure that no unnecessary risks are taken on their star man, with Palmer becoming a talismanic presence in west London. He has earned 11 senior caps for his country, scoring two goals, but will want to be ready for the resumption of domestic duty on November 23 when Maresca faces his former employers at Leicester.
